Swansea is Wales’ second city and the regional capital of South West Wales. It sits on the majestic sweep of Swansea Bay and at the heart of an area which offers a wonderful combination of coastline and countryside.
–
With an urban population of around 180,000 people, the city is big enough to have everything you would expect – museums, art galleries, theatres, sports and leisure facilities, shopping, restaurants and bars – whilst still being small enough to have a local feel. It’s also a warm and welcoming city, somewhere you can quickly feel at home.
–
Swansea’s two Universities mean there’s always a lively atmosphere and lots going on, not least on the sporting front. With Premier League Swansea City FC and the Ospreys regional rugby team both playing at Liberty Stadium, there’s top class sporting action for fans to enjoy. Wales National Pool Swansea, with its 50m and 25 pools, is open both to performance swimmers and those who enjoy a regular wet workout, while those who like to have more of a splash around can head for the LC, Wales’ most visited tourist attraction, or take a dip in the sea on one of the many beaches within easy reach.
–
If you enjoy the great outdoors then you’ll find lots of opportunities to indulge your passions. Whether its water sports of any sort, mountain biking, road cycling, climbing, horse riding, running, golf, tennis, fishing or simply walking, you’ll be able to do that here – whether you’re an expert of simply want to learn.
–
Swansea is often called the gateway to Gower – referencing the magnificent Gower Peninsular which was the first area in UK to be designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is only a short drive from the city. Renowned for its surfing, Gower has some of the best beaches in the UK and is only a short drive from the city.

For anyone with a young family, Swansea is a fantastic place to set down new roots. There are excellent state run primary and secondary schools in the area, with private schools also available if you prefer. House prices mean that you can get a lot more for your money than many other parts of the UK, and you can choose to live in the city or in one of the market towns or delightful villages all within easy commuting distance.
